What is Reiki

Reiki was developed in Japan in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui. The word "reiki" means "universal energy" in Japanese. https://www.reiki.org/faqs/what-history-reiki

Reiki is a Japanese holistic, non-invasive healing technique, that channels life force energy. It is a complimentary holistic therapy that involves working with universal life force energy to promote physical, emotional and spiritual well- being.

Three elements of the energy body are relevant to reiki: the meridians (invisible energy channels), the chakras (chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheels of energy’) and the aura.

It works on the meridians of the body and where there are ‘emotional blocks; the chakras are blocked’ the energy flows to release these blocks. Reiki has an intelligence of its own and knows exactly what that person needs.  The method uses gentle touch and placement for healing and aims to improve balance in your body.

Reiki is intended to help relive a wide range of common ailments and reduce stress, pain, and fatigue, and to enhance energy. It's not meant to cure illnesses, but it can help the body feel more relaxed and peaceful. When the body is in a deep state of relaxation, that’s when the body can heal. It works alongside medical treatment and does not replace the advice of a medical doctor.

Reiki sessions typically last 45 to 60 minutes, and the number of sessions needed depends on the client's goals. Some clients may prefer a single session, while others may have a series of sessions to address a specific issue.

We know from science that any type of emotional stress can reflect in some form of physical ailments throughout the body, The energy works on all the organs of the body including the circulatory system, immune, endocrine, nervous, digestive, lymphatic, reproductive and respiratory systems.  Reiki healing works on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual body to help bring balance and harmony.
